David P. Steiner became Chief Executive Officer of Waste Management on March 8, 2004. Waste Management, Inc., based in Houston, Texas, is a FORTUNE 200 company with revenues of approximately $13 billion and 50,000 employees.

David received his bachelor’s of science degree in accounting from Louisiana State University in 1982, graduating summa cum laude, and his law degree, with honors, from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1986. He is a member of the American Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association and the California Bar Association.

Before joining Waste Management, Inc., David was a partner in the New Orleans-based law firm of Phelps Dunbar. Before that, he worked for the law firm of Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher.

David joined Waste Management, Inc. in November 2000 as Vice President and Deputy General Counsel and was appointed Senior Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary in July 2001. In April 2003, he was named Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer with responsib  ity for all finance functions within Waste Management, including accounting, tax, treasury, internal audit, profit and budget analysis and investor relations.
