RICHARD O. SCHAUM General Manager 3rd Horizon Associates LLC

Richard O. Schaum is a 40 year veteran of the automotive industry, having risen through the ranks at DaimlerChrysler Corporation to the position of Executive Vice President, Product Development and Quality. He was responsible for all matters pertaining to Engineering, Regulatory Affairs, Product Planning, and Quality.

Mr. Schaum currently serves on the Board of Directors of BorgWarner Inc. and the Advisory Board for the SAE Automotive Resources Institute. In addition, he works as an automotive consultant as General Manager, 3rd Horizon Associates LLC, a company involved in technology assessment and development. He is a fellow of the Society of Automotive Engineers and served as its President in 2007.

Mr. Schaum received a B.S. degree in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in 1969, a M.S. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Michigan in 1971, and completed the Executive Program, the University of California at Berkeley in 1989.

Past professional activities include: member of the Board of Directors, New Venture Gear, Inc., a joint venture of DaimlerChrysler and General Motors Corporation, member of the Steering Committee for Tritec Engines, a joint venture of DaimlerChrysler and BMW, the Partnership for a New Generation of Vehicles, the National Research Council Workshop on Fuel Economy, and the Auto/Oil Air Quality Research Planning Task Force.
