Martin M. Koffel is the Chairman & CEO of URS Corporation. He received his MBA from Stanford University. Mr. Koffel has led URS since 1989. During his tenure, URS has grown from a small firm with $100 million in revenue and 900 employees to a global engineering and construction company with an estimated $9.8 billion in revenue in 2008 and more than 50,000 employees.
The Company is a leading provider of engineering, construction and technical services for public agencies and private sector companies around the world. URS provides services through the entire life cycle of a project: program management; planning, design and engineering; systems engineering and technical assistance; construction and construction management; operations and maintenance; and decommissioning and closure.
The Company offers services in four primary market sectors: power, infrastructure, federal, and industrial and commercial. In the power market, URS designs and builds virtually every type of power-generating facility, including nuclear plants. For infrastructure projects, URS provides comprehensive services for surface, air and rail transportation networks, water/wastewater facilities and public buildings. URS’ work for the U.S. federal government includ a variety of services in support of the Department of Defense, including the development and modernization of weapons systems, the maintenance and repair of military vehicles and other equipment, the design of military facilities and the operation of military installations.
The Company also helps to manage complex programs and facilities for the Department of Energy. URS’ work for industrial and commercial clients includes engineering, construction and technical assistance services for clients in oil and gas, automotive, chemical, pharmaceutical, food and beverage, manufacturing, and pulp and paper industries.
